BOROBUDUR TEMPLE
Borobudur Temple is a famous Buddhist temple located in Magelang, Central Java, Indonesia. It is the largest Buddhist monument in the world and a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The temple consists of nine stacked platforms, six square and three circular, topped by a central dome. The walls are covered with thousands of relief panels depicting scenes from Buddhist teachings and daily life in ancient Java. The top of the temple is adorned with 72 stupas, each containing a statue of the Buddha. Surrounded by lush greenery and hills, Borobudur offers a serene atmosphere, especially during sunrise when the mist lingers over the landscape. The temple is an important pilgrimage site for Buddhists, particularly during the Vesak Day celebrations.
